Valentine's Day

The day which is associated with romantic love and lovers express their love to each another with gifts.

There is many interpretation of this romantic day and I specifically like this:

When Rome was under the rule of Roman Emperor
Claudius II in the 3rd century,he passed down the rule that every men to stay single. He did this in the purpose to grow his army, believing that married men did not make for good soldiers. However a priest by the name Saint Valentine secretly performed marriage ceremonies for young couples. When Claudius found out, St Valentine was imprisoned then executed.

During St Valentine's imprisonment, the jailer's blind daughter, whom he befriended, often visited him. Not only he healed her eyes, on the evening of his execution, St Valentine wrote a note for her. The note ended off with "From your Valentine".

Like the saying goes "True love is hard to find", I am glad that he managed to find his true love at the binge of his death even though he is a priest. Commendable effort to go against the emperor to perform the marriage rites for young loving couples. Lucky thing is divorce rate at that time wasn't as high as we have now, else his effort will be fruitless.

Sending flowers, cards and gifts are the common stuff to do for V-day. While on my way home, I was listening to Shan and Rozz on 98.7FM and they were introducing things to do for V-Day which I think was quite cool.

1) Instead of sending V-Day cards to your lover, send "Thank you" cards to your lover's parents. Thank them for giving birth to your lover! (Investing on the higher echelon is always the better way to do things. Hehe.)

2) For co-habiting couples, TV is always a distraction. For once, plug out the switch and put a sign on the TV saying "Turn me on instead".

3) Going old fashion is always favorable. Gents, start kissing your girlfriend's hand like the 19th century's gentlemen. Of course, do not pull her hands to your lips, instead lower your lips to her hands.

Just too bad, I am single and unwanted for the moment. Else I will put these advice into good use. Lol.

Well, Happy Valentines' Day to the world!!
